He has a reaction to stress where he will get red patches or breakouts on his skin. These are normally very small and barely noticeable and do not bother him. There have been 3-4 incidents where the breakout grew larger but they were easily managed with a steroid injection. This condition does not require any medication. This is something to know about and monitor but requires no other accommodations.
More about Patrick ...
Patrick is a big ball of love. He is the biggest lap cat and snuggle partner. Patty loves to nap and often will barely move throughout the day but if there is a flying insect around he turns into an amazingly agile hunter. Patrick has been a part of our family since he was only a few weeks old. He was part of a litter of kittens we fostered and we couldn't give him up. Sadly, we are facing that excruciating decision now. For the past four years, Patty and our two other cats have started fighting, bullying, and guarding food. We worked closely with our veterinarian to solve this problem and sadly nothing has worked. Patty seems to be either the bully or the one getting bullied, in any case, he does not deserve to live in fear. Patty would do best in a home with no other cats due to the conflict issues the past couple of years. He has lived with big and little dogs and is great with them. Patty prefers older and calmer children to match his chilled out cuddle bug demeanor although he's decided our youngest (and loudest) nephew is pretty cool and is his buddy. Patty gets starled by loud noised and sudden movements and will hide when guests come over. Once he is comfortable with you, he will be on your lap or in your arms. Patrick is large (aka: overweight) but otherwise in good health. He has a reaction to stress where he will get red patches or breakouts on his skin. These are normally very small and barely noticeable and do not bother him. There have been 3-4 incidents where the breakout grew larger but they were easily managed with a steroid injection. This condition does not require any medication. Patty has slept with me, usually in my arms, since he was a baby. But a word of warning: he is a bed hog and turns into a brick at night refusing to move out of his comfy position. He also has been known to sleep on my pillow and knead my head. He will also bury his face in my ear and purr as loud as he can. Patrick is such a sweet boy and it breaks my heart that our cats have decided to stop getting along. It has taken us four years to come to the conclusion that he would live a better life outside our home. Please give him all the cuddles and love.
